After goin from texas to colorado last summer i have decided to trade in the sporty for a street glide. Just wanting to hear anyones input who has a street glide how they like it..
had one of the first nightsters made, rode it for 3 weeks put 1,000 miles on it then traded it in for a street glide. I love my street glide. Its the best bike harley has made in my opinion.
Bought my Fat Boy in '05 thinking it was the only Harley I'd ever want. A year later I changed my mind thinking I liked the way the SG looked. Bought the SG last July and absolutely love it. Don't get me wrong, I still love the Fat Boy, but just didn't enjoy putting 300-400 miles a day on it. If you're able to, I'd have both for the best of both worlds, but if you can only have one and you do any kind of touring, in my opinion, I don't think there's any beating the SG.
The Street Glide is a great bike for sure. low lean clean machine. and for 2 or 3 an some 4 hundred mile touring rides it is a fun ride for sure. but the low comes at a price with a stiffer ride. so can the back take the whack. and when the Street Glide is throwin sparks in curves the standard hight ElectraGlides can be pushed on over and go even lower.
So if touring for you rolls up 3 or 4 or 5 or 6 hundred mile days, and can go day after day, dont overlook the standard ElectraGlides or the Classic or Ultra. and for 2up there is no guestion the big glide is top dog.
so if looks is the most important to you then Street Glide all the way!
But,, if your really into ridein, before you buy do this. go and sit on both bikes, close your eyes and bounce them some and sit and bounce and sit an bounce and ask yourself can you really sit on this bike for hours an hours an hours and Hours and Hours and HOURS an.....
I just upgraded from a tricked-out 01' Fatboy to an 08' street glide.
Words cannot describe how happy i am with my upgrade...
Not that the fatty was a hoot around town and afternoon rides, but on all day trips i'd never trade anything back over the street glide........ rides better, handles better, smoother, quicker stops, and the cruise control and audio are worth their weight in gold.....
