Thanks for all the input. I think I'll try the pillow and spoon solution first. This helmet is advertised as being custom fit so I am also wondering about the liner inserts they sell to improve the fit...
To shorten break-in time we cram pillows into the helmet tightly in the direction of the discomfort: width or length. Leave it this way for about one week and then check the fit. Repeat as needed until you get the right amount of crush. From that point on the helmet will not cause a problem.
What type of pillows do you use that would be firm enough to shape styrofoam?
the "custom" fit is just the earpad thikness as far as i know u have to start with on size larger and tighten it up with thiker earpads.so many people ask whats the best helment my answer is one that fits!! try trimming the foam. when i go to shows with lots of vendars ive tryed on so many helment to get a good fit finnaly happy.
The best tool for reshaping/compressing the inside foam of a helmet is an ice cream scoop. The backside of the scoop is very smooth and the scoopss are usually equipped with a substantial handle which will afford good purchase. Only compress a little of the foam at a time as once it's gone it's gone for good.

Cast iron.
Actually, the firmest sofa pillows I could steal from my wife. It isn't so much the styrofoam that is compressed, as it is the foam inserts that squeeze ones head. There should be a fair amount of this "soft" foam padding in the helmet.
I actually put a basketball(deflated) inside one of my old drag racing hemets and inflated it till il had good pressure and let it set for a few days and it did the trick.

I have a friend that did that once. Not being as smart as you average Seabee, he pumped the hell out of that ball.....cracked his helmet....cracked us up. We no longer allow him to play with screwdrivers, etc.
Have any of you lady riders or men's significant other passengers bought the new Harley Women's Bling Skyline 3/4 Helmet? I won't bother outlining the problem until I see if anyone has them...
My wife bought one prior to our trip to Fl. last month. She was miserable. It dug into her forehead giving her headaches. Since we were in FL. I gave her my helmet which she put on over a ballcap.
The dealer where she bought it told her to get a ballpeen hammer and lightly tap down the foam.....
