Any RG riders having a problem with the stock seat moving from side to side in the front? About a 1/4 inch each way. Today was the first time I have used it as i have been using a brawler seat from day 1. The brawler did not move at all. I can't lift the front of the seat up, so i'm assuming it's installed properly.
it's the same way on my 09 streetglide...the mounting is less than perfect...i found you can limit the rocking by installing bolts in the empty threaded holes used to instal rear crash bars...it won't stop it but it will limit it..
The seat should not move at all. If it does, something is wrong with the seat or you have an aftermarket seat that was not built properly for your bike.
A seat that moves around is dangerous, especially when 2-up. Find the source of the problem and fix it.
I've got an 08'. Mine doesn't rock but I have had my seat replaced once and it needs to be again. The seat keeps tearing at the seam on the right side. T.
I think some of the front mounting tabs on non stock seats are more narrow than the stock seats.
The mustang seat I have moves a lot side to side when I'm not sitting on it.
Take a thick garden hose or plastic tubing and cut 2 pieces the length of the mounting slot. Then slit one side of the tubes and place them on the sides of the slot in the frame. This will take up some of the clearance.
I notice a slight movement in my seat when standing the bike up from the kickstand. Other than that, its not noticable at any other time.
On the other note about the stitching. The stitching in my stock seat started separating but the dealer replaced the entire seat under warranty. They took the old seat in exchange for the new one though. I was hoping I could have sent it to Mean City for a mod.

They replaced mine as well. The new one started doing the same thing within a month. The SM did not want to replace it until he talked to a factory rep. Said "I've never seen this before". Sounds familiar. T.
my stock seat does the same thing.i belive it is the slot that the tab goes into on the seat is to large.it manage to scratch my tank by going side to side.the new corbin that i just put on does not move at all,and it fits so much nicer around the tank.seat could not come off,but they could have done alittle nicer job in the fittment.m2c
