Can you buy just the chrome backing plate somewhere? Didn't get the kit with the chrome and am now regretting it. If not, anybody ever paint the exposed parts of the plate black? That would go better with the black engine on a SG. Thanks.

 

Ohhh, you're talking about an air cleaner.

 

But of course. Nevermind anyway. I am rather impatient and just went ahead and painted the visible parts with black high temperature paint and it looks pretty sharp. A five dollar cure beats buying a new part.

 

HD has a chrome backing plate and its (believe it or not) cheaper than Arlen Ness backing plate.

 

I was thinking the same thing, AFTER I put it on, of course!

 

Paint it black is what I would have done too in your shoes, but I did buy the chrome one.
