In case you're confused, BULL0848, "what oil should I use" is probably one of the most often asked and hotly debated questions out there; hence the popcorn references (like at the movies - sit back and watch). Everyone has his or her own opinion, many have their own agendas and many jsut want to poke the fire.

In short, "what oil" is sorta like asking "which religion is best?"

HDV, interesting (I think) - do you have (or know where we can find) similar info on the other synthetics like Mobil 1, Redline, Amsoil, etc? Or, do we know for sure that they are 100% Group IV and V oils?

I had that info saved from a thread on the V-Rod Forum I belong to....

I'll see if I can find info on the other oils we use...

I whole heartedly agree. The search does suck and instead of being a dick they could just answer the question or go to another thread. Havent people ever heard, if you cant say something nice dont say anything at all? Did this guy not make it through kindergarten? Thats where I thought everyone learned that?

I filled all 3 holes with Amsoil. I wouldn't trust my bike or car with anything else!

Who else can make guarantees like Amsoil? So far, nobody can guarantee protection for as long as Amsoil.

25K oil change intervals for the car oils and 15K oil change intervals for their motorcycle oils when used with their oil filters. That is better than any other oil on the market.

It's funny how people bash this topic. Without oil, windshields, audio systems, ABS and the list goes on, there would be no touring section. I hope that anyone can ask any question here that they might have. I realize that the ther is another area to post but let's step back, take a deep breath and post what we want to post. If I am sick of reading about something, I don't look at the post. Maybe some people are trying to get more posts under there belt to move up to the "next" level. Come on, can't we all just get along.

The fact that they make claims for their oil doesn't mean others don't perform as well or better. There have been several tests on oil conducted by MC mags and Amsoil always performs well, although not any better than a number of other excellent products that are on the market. Its ability to retain viscosity, a measure of durabilty, is also very good along with several other brands like Mobil 1, Royal Purple, Redline, etc.

In decades of studying oil tests I've never seen one truly independent test that concluded that one oil was best for all applications and conditions, nor superior in all tests within a series. They're all good and it is great that you feel upbeat about using Amsoil, but it isn't the only high-quality oil on the block.
