Default Got my CD player fixed

My 2006 Ultra's CD player started skipping this year. Glad I had the extended warranty. Replacing these radio/cd players can be expensive. The dealer took it out and replaced it with a refurb one. So I don't know what was causing the skipping. I guess they will fix mine and give it to the next guy that has a problem with his.

Just wondering, was this a common problem with the 2006 cd players?

1- dirty optics in CD drive
2- SDRAM needs rework
3- CD drive defective

most common we've come across

I have the same problem, I took it back under warranty once before and they gave it an update it worked good for a while and now its skipping again, so I quess I will have to get another radio, bad thing is I don't have the extended warranty.

Darth,

There is no way an update would ever fix a skipping issue. Skipping issues are mechanical, not electronic. That radio should have been replaced under warranty the first time. If you cant get it warrantied now, try Iron Cross Audio. Probably a better option than the dealer for a repair.

I will check this out. I don't what they did, cleaning and update is what I figure they did, I have also cleaned and updated, I know I am defiantly looking at other options for a cd player. Thanks

Hope you have it all ready to go for Sunday's ride to Kokomo, Ozoneman. I'm tired of turning up the volume on mine so you don't get bored

I just purchased a Black Swamp Custom that used to be an '06 Ultra...Having spent the last 30 years on an '80 FLH Classic, I wasn't really interested in the CD player, or music at all for that matter. To be fair though, I did have to give the tunes a chance. I'm very old school...so I ride when it rains and when it's cold, and I'm finding that the wetter, the cooler, the more they skip. We just had a very nice 80 degree day today...warm and dry and, guess what? No skipping!
I would think that a good cleaning, and somebody that knows something about aligning the heads would take care of mostadat. I'm gonna give it a try 'cause you know what...I'm kinda like listenin' to 'Marley on my harley!
