I'm having a problem with my suspension air pump for my rear shock on my 03' RKC. When I twist the pump end piece onto the bike valve, I get no reading. I then try to pump air into the shock but nothing is registering on the pressure gauge. When I take the pump off to test it, it seems to be pushing out air. Also, I know there is air in my shock cause I bled some out of it to make sure.
Anyone had this problem? I would really appreciate any assistance be it that I don't want to have to drop $45 on a new pump if I don't have to. Thank a lot in advance.
I heard somebody talking about this before....it sounds like the air nipple is not sticking out far enough...i think i recall about shocks being relocated...Do a search for previous posts for pump or air pump.
Mine won't screw down far enough either. I remove them. Well actually, I only use the front because I threw away the lousy HD air shocks and bought 440s.

I had the same problem when I first got my Road King, I finally found a post stating valve must be remove from bracket before pump will screw down far enough. Kinda sucks when you are trying to find the best pressure for the ride.
There is a pin in the schraeder valve (gas valve on shock) that needs to be depressed to open the valve - i.e. as stated above the nut needs to be screwed down far enough to ensure the pin is depressed.
Has this problem always existing or is it a development.
If it was always the case, then sounds like a design flaw between valve and pump nut. Easiest option will be to file a couple of millimeters off the nut to ensure deeper engagement.
If it has developed, try spraying WD40 inside the shock valve and give it a quick prod with a small blunt punch, the valve may be sticking
Thanks everyone for the advice. I will try the WD40 since it's a developing problem since my HD pump has worked in the past. If not I will remove the valve and try that way. Hopefully one will work. Thanks again!!
I had that problem. You need to get the valve stem to stick out farther so that the air gauge can be screwed in more to allow the nipple to depress. I forget how I fixed it but I remember it was quick and easy.
