I think a painted inner fairing makes such a difference. I had it done before I piced up my bike. Once I sell my fairing mounted mirrors I think I might get another painted one that doesnt have the holes.

I have done 2 FLHXs. Mine and my buddies. Both vivid black. Mines an 09 his is an 08. Together, we could strip the front end and have the inner out in an hour now. Putting back is about an hour and 15 minutes.
One note for the Streetglide crowd. We both moved our cruise control power switch to the other side of the ignition switch. A very simple thing to do, and theres plenty of wire if you cut and replace one zip tie.
That way you can power up the cruise with your left and not let go of the throttle.
