I've been on the tail 4 times and loved it. But it is a US highway and there are all kinds of vehicles on the road. I had a dump truck pulling a trailer with a back hole come half way in to my lane, while in a turn. I was able to move to the right to avoid being his new grill decoration.
Like you said Pacemaker...it is a US HWY and rules are supposed to be followed...It's just like any other road until they sell it to somebody to make it a track....Then it will be called....Tail of the dragon "Cemetary". Until then enjoy what the tax dollar allows us to enjoy...
......and were beating up on R1s through 129. I'm not sticking up for the guys, just saying you did go during an "event" and may have better luck next time.
I like going during a Harley "event" and riding during the week. More reasonable speeds and less rockets. It's a been there, done that kinda thing as there are much better roads in the area to ride with a lot less traffic.
My HOG chapter is going up June 4th-7th. Were going to ride it on a Friday, hope it won't be to bad with the crotch rockets. I've never rode it. But our head R/C said someone has an accident every year. Usually not there fault.
I ride it once a year with a group of guys here in Ohio. 1000 + mile weekend. We love it the Dragon is a workout but the surrounding roads make it a awsome weekend. We just got home yesterday and it was another fantastic trip.
i did it on a weekday at 9 am much better that way.
Going the week before Memorial Day during the week. Hoping to hit it early and just enjoy the rest of the day(s) in the mountains and the Cherry Cola Highway.
Sorry - I can't remember what it's called and when I told my daughter about it she said Cherry Cola Highway. I thought it was cute. Damn kids and their cuteness...
