I rode the "Dragon" today. It was a 500 mile round trip from my house. The place was about 90% sport bikes riding in their normal "moron" mode. I even helped get the bike off one rider who crossed into the other lane and into the ditch. The rider was ok but the bike was trashed. The scenery and roads are great, however the overall experience was vastly overrated! How did you like it?

I think everyone should do it at least once. There are a lot other roads to ride in that area that are just as good and not near as crowded.
Foush, Been there and done that! Yes, over-rated I agree! I rode it in the fall during the week and it wasn't too bad. It's over 400 miles round trip for me and there's too many great road closer to home.
Too many punks on sport bikes disrespecting other riders, the road, and their bikes. It kills me that they can't enjoy it at a decent safe speed and share the road with others. I'd go find a sactioned race track designed for speed without any mini vans If that was what I was in to.

I personally didn't care for it. 2-up on a bagger it was more work than it was worth. The Cherahola Skyway and the other surrounding roads are much more suited to me.
We rode it during the week last July. Road it three times, not much traffic. I agree need to do it once, then it's one of those- been there done that and bought the Tshirt deals.
Did it in slow motion with a friend last year on Tuesday May 20th for my 61st birthday. Even in slow motion there's not much time for sightseeing.
We did it from the Tennessee side to North Carolina and when finished we stopped at the general store at Deal's Gap. The parking lot was like being in the pits at Daytona - between the crotch rocket riders in all leather and the Porsches and even an original Cobra (not the Mustang) getting ready to make their "runs".
Supposedly there is a 7 minute club as in probably 7 minutes and 59 seconds to do the 318 turns in the 11 miles.
