Have had all the other big touring rigs except Suzuki.
BMW is a nice bike but it also stands for 'Bleed My Wallet', I have had 2 beemers and my friends have had 2 beemers, I know.

Last time I had a beemer, wife wouldn't get on it. Told me to get rid of it and get another Harley dresser. Not too many wives tell guys to GO buy a Harley, gotta keep her happy. She told me after buying this current bike, I can get another one but I'm never selling this bike.

I am on my fifth touring bike

In 1977 it was a '77 Harley FLH batwing ( now a 93" stroker )

In 1979 was a 52 FLH ( now fully restored )

In 1984 it was either a '84 Harley FLH batwing or '84 FLTC Tour Glide , picked Tour Glide

In 1988 it was either a '88 Harley FLH batwing or '88 FLTC Tour Glide , picked Tour Glide

In 2008 it was either a '08 Harley Ultra batwing or '08 FLTR Road Glide , I picked the Roadie

Test rode a Goldwing but it wasn't comfortable. Wouldn't consider a BMW or Victory.

It was either a Nomad or the Harley. I liked the feel of the Harley and it was a Harley. Got the Roadglide.

I've owned a Goldwing and considered the Victory Vision before I bought the '09 Ultra. The Goldwing is too small for me (I'm 6'1" and 260) and I felt like my knees were always too close to the dang fairing. I also didn't care for the way my feet were placed (though that 6-cylinder engine is a great unit). The heat off the motor cooked my toes (yeah, I know, some of the GW guys claim it don't get hot ... but then again ... some HD guys claim the 96ci don't get hot either).

I seriously considered the Victory Vision (I like the styling). I did 4 different test rides and I have to say it "fit" me better than either the GW or the HD Ultra. In fact, I might have gone with the Victory had HD not made the changes they did for the '09 models.

I've ridden 2 BMWs in my life and was not that impressed either time. BMW, like Harley, is a state of mind as much as it is a ride. It's just not for me.

My final decision was made based on fit, finish, and overall appeal of the bike. The HD Ultra was a clear winner but was followed relatively closely by the Vision. The HD Ultra had a much better paint, chrome, and overall fit than the Victory. Now, understand that I own two Polaris ATVs, so I'm a Polaris fan already, but the Vision just didn't do it in the end ... especially since it was going to be more expensive.

The Goldwing was a distant 3rd and the BMW never got out of pit lane to start the race. I did like my Goldwing but the position of my feet and knees became a final determining factor.
