Thats funny I do that to on purpose sometimes. If I down shift in the upper rpms my Thunderheader pops and gurgles, than if I slightly open the throttle just a bit and than shut it again sometimes I can get some real loud pop, pop, pop, KABLAM!!!
I like doing it but someone convinced me it was bad becuase my headpipes are very blue already.
mine has a little pop and sometime i get the KABLAM!...I just put a set of Bub 7's true duals without the x-over. I checked all my connections at the head and muffs and fixed most of it, still does it a lil which i can live with....gonna go with the PC-V and AC next payday.
I fixed my RK by tweaking my map on my PC V. Just put Vance & Hines muffs on a few weeks ago and it started popping on decel. Harley sold me a PC V when I bought the Muffs and put a map for the muffs but it started popping on decel. I started experimenting with the maps myself and fixed the problem that Harley said I would just have to "live with".

I always wonder about this topic when people complain about, or say they like decel popping...
I can't help but think there are different kinds that people rarely elaborate on what they have, like for example....
If you're at idle in neutral or coasting w/ clutch in, so not in gear, and rev the engine and it pops when you let off, to me that might be different than going down the road in gear.
And if in gear, are they at high rpm intentionally revving it up and letting the gear draw them back down, or are they cruising in a gear at lower rpm and still getting popping every time they let off the throttle.
I'm no expert, but seems to me that these different scenarios might be related, but might not always be the same issue, if an issue at all, but everyone may have a different perception of what's cool or a problem...
Get rid of it? I wish my RK had it. I have a very mild gurgle upon decel with an occassional mild pop. Got it when I had the stage 1 done. Sounds great.
I have/hate the decel popping, it reminds me of cheap glasspacks on a car. My builder and I went around on this after I had the 103 kit installed, (up until then I was bone stock).
After I tracked when it happened which was at 2000 rpms plus or minus. He dynoed and did research and tells me it is then that the injectors open and close, and the pop is each time this happens.
So every time I get the pop it is at 2k so until I go with M/O's or Supertrapps 2:1 I will just have to live with it.
rome304, I'm glad to hear you solved your decel popping issue. I also had occasional decel pop, which I solved even easier. I know I'm gonna get flamed for this, but here goes...
I think this issue can also be caused by a certain riding style. I noticed that my bike would pop whenever I failed to close the throttle completely when decellerating. Just like a leaky faucet in the kitchen sink, if you unintentionally hold the throttle slightly open, fuel will flow to the engine.
So...now I make sure I am either on the throttle (when accelerating) or completely off the throttle, allowing the twist grip to completely snap back, when I decel, and *viola* my decel pop issue was resolved.
