Default 30t. engine sprocket

I am thinking of changing to a 30t. in my '08 FLHX, what is the disadvantage of changing this gear ? What is the process of the install on the gear ? Does it change anything with the Warranty? Cost ? Part #'s for gear, belt, etc.? Thanks for the help in advance... Shaun

You can change either the compensator to a 30 tooth with accompanying chain like I did and not have to change anything else, or you can do it on the tranny side and will need a speedo calibration unless you have a Thundermax and can compensate for the speed change

I did the comp sprocket...love it. It will raise your cruisin rpm 3-4 hondo . Alot easier starting off riding 2-up.

I am thinking of changing the engine sprocket to the evo 30 tooth. What will the difference be like without the stock compensator sprocket? Will the bike be to jerky? What are the advantages and disadvantages for changing to a 30 tooth non compensated engine sprocket? Will any negatives be noticable while riding?

I changed my 07 SG and installed Evolution Ind rear clutch sprocket. I chose this route for 2 reasons. First I didn't want to lose the compensator and the gear ratios would have dropped too much for my liking. Since I have a fair amount of torque with the 103 I could pull a taller gear. As for the results... definitely worth the work. About a 90 minute install and it makes a real nice difference.

I've heard that there is a bit of modding involved with changing the clutch sprocket. Could you detail the steps that you have to take as this is the route that i would like to go with.

The only "negative" I've noticed is in stop/go traffic going very slow, the bike chugs a little as you creep along. IMO the positives outway any negatives. If you do alot of long rides where you'll be cruising at 80mph, you may like the stock sprocket better, the 30T kicks up the rpm at highway speeds but seems to always be in a better range any other time. Better low end grunt and much easier taking off from a stop.

Thanks gl.der that is what I have heard is a possible draw back. And possibly the 6 gear light being lost.
