Don't know about upper back problems, but using the kidney belt in my FXRG jacket sure helps with my lower back issues. Next on my wish list is the rider's backrest.

When I had upper back problems The therapist tried several things to eliminate the pain. 1. Find a corner and place your hands on both walls about the level of your face. Arms should look like an "L" Try to press your nose into the corner. You should feel stretching across upper chest and pushing your sholder blades together toward your spine. Hold for a few seconds and repeat. Works for some but not others. The best thing I have found to help with upper back pain is traction. They sell a device at drug stores that uses a pulley arrangement and a bag of water. The weight of the filled water bag pulls up on your head as you sit in a chair. I think the device cost between 35 and 50 dollars. I spend about 20 minutes in traction a few times per week untill pain went away. Takes time and results are slow but it seems to help most people. I still had to have surgery to fix my back but I still get pain sometimes. As soon as I start feeling back pain I put myself in traction and its gone within two days. Since surgery I usually have to use traction at least once a month to eliminate my pain. Good Luck!

6'2 here and had the same problem. Made riding darn unpleasant. I changed to the tall-boy bars and made a ton of difference. Had the same issue but to a lesser degree on my Ultra. The back-rest solved that one. I think if I put a backrest on my RKC along with the tall-boys I could sleep on there but I like the look of the solo without the BR too much. Maybe someday.

If you do a search youwill find a ton of posts on that between the shoulders pain. 90 percent of them will be from Road King riders. The bars suck! There are lots of choices out there but many guys (myself included) have solved the problem with either the Road King High Bars or bars off of a Heritage. I chose the former, my buddy the latter. Both work. By the way, I'm 6'0 with gorilla arms and I still had issues with the stockers.

You need handle bars with more pull back.
