Visit Johhny Vaughn at http://hdbikeparts.com/, I just installed a set of 16's on a friends Night Train, purchased everything from him to do the job and everything was dead on, smooth install. He provided me with a wire extension kit that was a breeze to install. I'm not kidding. No more splicing and soldering! Visit his web site, I ordered on a weds. night, everything shipped thursday morning and was sitting on my porch on friday...........Rich
Thanks for the contact. Its too late, I've already spliced them. I spliced in nine inch wire extensions and after I fished the wires through the bars, they were about 2 inches too short to reach the connectors. *** me! I sat down and completely re-did that side and added 18" extension (6 inch service loop for up to 16" apes). I am still in shock and amazed that 9" inch extensions were too short- I measured twice! I could have made it work but WTF, redo it and it'll be right. Also figured out that the headlight wires are not 18 AWG but likely 16 AWG. WIre are not imprinted and there is no AWG spec in the manualso, back to buy some 16 ga wire.
Bottom line is that on an 02 Road King, when installing Wild1 Chubbie 12.5" mini apes, a minimum of 12" of wire extension is required. And I believe that the SOLID color wires are 16 AWG (nice of the MOCO to keep that one a secret).
I had to use 12" extention on my tail when I put the 12.5's on......I got a set thru DS that was all made up,I only had to use the shrink tube were the connectors were..
Dint need any with the 11" Santee's I put on the EGC last week.....
