Cool Touring gearing question?

I asked this question in the general topics area to no avail, so I will ask again in this area with hopes of a more specific answer.
I have a 2006 Electra Glide classic and as most of you have experenced also when I am in top cog I still am looking for another gear, or lower gearing so I am rolling at lower rpm's.
Has anybody ever installed a pully off other bikes and if so what pully did you use what # of teeth were the pullys, did you have to change the belt?
What I would like I think is one more tooth on the front or three off the rear.
Has anyone done this? Is there enough meat removed from the inner primary to fit a larger front pully?
Any answers would help especialy if they have part #'s and years used off of.
Thanks in advance for replys.

How about changing primary drive sprocket to get same results.

I have been wondering the same thing. A lot of people gear down their motors, not gear up.

I would be interested on seeing some replys to this one, I have a 00EGC, I think a couple of teeth could make a huge diff.

On my 2000 Fatboy (stock tranny pulley 32-T and rear 70-T if I recall), I changed my tranny pulley to 34-T and the rear pulley to 65-T (bought on Ebay). Had to go to a different tooth rear belt (132-T...can't recall now) and used the 1" width belt (or whatever the newer belt widths are) vice the 1 1/2" which was stock for the Fatboy.

Let me cruise around 2500 RPM at 70 Mph. Anyway, it was definitely taller gearing, but was more enjoyable at 65-75 Mph (not looking for another gear until around 75 Mph). If my wife rode with me (not often), taking off in first gear was causing me to slip the clutch more than normal.

I wanted to go with a Over Drive gear set for the tranny (much better if you can afford it in my opinion). Looked at an Ultima set, but ended up not having the $$ to afford to do it. If I didn't get the pulleys off of Ebay for such a good deal, I wouldn't have gone that way either as it would have cost about the same for them or the gear set (not labor though). I could do the pulley swap out myself.

Default Lower Gearing due to Sidecar

Hi all, I'm new to this Forum and have a question. I have an 2004 Electra Glide Classic and just added a Hannigan Classic Sidecar. I feel like my gearing is now too tall. I believe my rear pulley is a 70T. does someone make a 72T? I think that would make enough difference without changing the belt. any and all advice is welcome. Kenny.......

I spotted 3 different size transmission sprockets in my Dennis Kirk catalog, so they're probably online also. This seems to be the popular change since its so low in price compared to a 6 speed. Depending on what size sprocket you order, you may need to replace the belt, so pulling the swing arm may be involved.

Just swap out your primary comp sprocket and clutch sprocket for that used on '02 through '06 bikes which have 3.15:1 primary gearing compared to your 3.37:1 primary gearing. It will lower your rpm's at 75 mph about 200 rpm's.

Welcome to HDF. You need a bigger change than that. There are very few rear pulley sizes and as far as I know 70T is the largest. You should consider making changes in the primary, with a smaller crank sprocket. It is cheaper and easier to do it in there.
