Called Customer service, not covered as not worked on by certified mechanic. Basically only way warranty work will be done is if damage is found be certified mechanic. So, I guess my best route now is to try the link from DAWG and see if I can get that. I figure if it seals nice, I will flush as they did, do a run of a few miles and flush again to make sure its cleaned out.
Thoughts? Makes me hesitant to do any more service work on my own bike, but I guess in reality, most problems found that would be covered aren't a situation like this that occured. We'll see.
I would be really pissed about that one. The dealer should have taken care of it and said they took it apart. I know my dealer would have, but I guess that shouldn't be expected. WOW, sorry to hear that.
Good lord, just tap it yourself. Google it, print it, and do it for $8. Parts are at any auto parts store. If you can change the oil you can tap a plug. What ya got to loose if you are already thinking of replacing the pan. You just might surprise yourself and save a few bucks.
I Just had this problem with my Mustang after Qwik Lub shop strip the threads. The retap never really worked very well and I never could get all the metal shavings out of the pan. After spending a lot of money and frustration trying to fix it, the only real fix was a new oil pan. That is a real pain for a Mustang because the engine has to be lifted out of the car, but I wish I had had it done in the first place and save the hassle. Get a new pan and have a different Harley shop that wants your business install it.
I "think" that's what got him into this trouble..........I'm not sure if he gets a passing or failing grade for his attempt!
i removed the trasnmission plug only, never installed myself as this was just the 1k maintenance. The plug had threads on it. Not sure how I could have screwed it up. But with the kind of luck I have, god only knows!!
