Default Pull back bars on S/G

I was wondering for a short rider, I am wanting to put pull back bars on my 09 S/G. The Harley web site says that you have to switch to handle bar mounted mirrors and blank off plates on the faring. Is there an any way that anyone knows of what kind of handle bars will give a short rider the same effect as heritage style handle bars with out having handle bar mounted mirrors.

you don't have to swap out mirrors the factory recommends this because your view may be hindered...I rode for two years with apes on my Dyna and I had to put my left arm down to check the mirrors...depends on what you feel is a fair price for cool and comfortable

I have the Klock Werks back bars. They are much more comfortable. But I can not see very well out of my fairing mount mirrors

Very poor design, you have to rotate them so high you lose the back effect as well as the use of your fairing mounted mirrors. They also significantly increased the burning pain at the top of my shoulder blades where my neck meets my spine.

And yet some people swear by them. So, it's pretty much personal preference and how you position yourself on the bike while riding.

Alot of people really are very straight up posture riders and keep muscles tense while riding...this usually isn't good if you have to reach to far. And no matter what bars ya have...it stresses their bodies out. Now some are very relaxed and don't have these issues. And some people no matter what they do will have issues. I have nerve damage from Iraq and no matter what I do I have horrible tingling in My fingers and hands, lower arms cramp, and elbow pain. And I have a reach seat that bring me forward!

So...before we trash a particular product...think that maybe it's just not working for you. But might work for others!

A back bar is supposed to bring your hands back not up. The tense muscles come from holding my hands higher; the stock bars were much more comfortable.

These are very pricey bars to begin with, throw in the expense of having them installed and one is risking an interesting chunk of change to find out if they are going to “work for me.”

I might feel differently if they at least brought my hands back just a little.

I have this setup - it is fine. You set the bars so that they are low and your hands are below the mirrors - It is VERY comfortable, and you see fine in the mirrors with no blockage.

Wild1's 575

BTW - I am 5'6" what helped the most was to have seat custom made at the Corbin factory in Hollister... I live within a 2 hour ride... they have a ride in app, where they build the seat to fit YOUR butt right there that day... you spend all day with the builder and you leave that day with your new seat.. However, I see you are in Jackson FL ( was there Feb 3 - cold as hell that week)

Everyone will have their own opinion. I like the KW. They are not cheap. The KW put your wrist in a more natural position. To me that is worth it. My arms are back further. I can either get used to my mirrors or get bar mounted ones. To me it is worth it.

And when you do that the bars will hit the chrome around the top of the fuel tank limiting your ability to make a tight turn.
