I've worked 11pm to 7am most of my adult life, close to 30 years, I used to love it but as I get older, it's starting to take a toll on me. If it weren't for my scooter, I'd go nuts.

Work rotating shifts as of now I am on 0000-0800 in a few weeks back to 0800-1600 then something else. I like being able to switch around helps keep me from getting to bored at least each shift if for 3 months at a time.

I've worked shift work for about 5 years now, I work ata glass container plant & run a machine that mass produces glass bottles(making pace picante sauce jars right now) Some days I love shift work(like today is my friday when it's everyone elses Monday) other times I hate it like when I have to miss a family event or something. I personally like working graveyards the best out of all of them...I sleep good during the day and there's no "company" men hanging around at night hate days because I don't like having to wake up to an alarm clock & theres too many salary folks around and the worst of all is evenings...you go to work at the hottest part of the day, don't have time to do much in the morning before you have to go to work & when you I get home it's hard to go to sleep. I asked my dad if I'll ever get used to shift work( he retired from where I work after 36 years) and he told me no he never got used to it lol.

4 on/ 4 off, 5 to 5, one shift of nights then one of days, repeat until retirement. Been working shifts for 33 years. It's a job and when we get our full 4 off(called in a lot) it's nice. The one thing I hate is too often people eventually think you're blowing them off because you're always working when plans come up. Last year I had 13 actual weekends off(Saturday and Sunday). Can't complain, lot's of people not working that I would like to see back...

I hear ya Nate-20 years in a glass house (Anchor Glass Container) and most of 'em on 3rd with rotating days off you know the drill-work 6 off 2, etc. and one year working 2 days on 8am-4pm, 2days 4pm 12am, 2 days on 12am-8am, then 1-1/2 days off and 2 days on dayshift again.....
You don't realize how much of a toll it puts on you body and mind until you get out.
Never again.
