I was riding this morning after a couple of weeks of not being able to because of rain.
I noticed that the odometer display disappeared, the turn signals quit functioning and the speedo was stuck at 12 MPH. All of that stuff worked when I pulled out of the driveway earlier!
I stopped and thought maybe my battery was going dead. Nope. I pulled off the dash and looked for loose wires...NOPE!
Is there a short somewhere or a fuse that may be the culprit?
You might check to make sure your fairing harness is tight....and then work on fuses.....or check fuses first that is easer..then check the harness....
Check your speedo diagnostics and see what you get.
My speedometer was erratic on Saturday and Dawg suggested I clean the sensor. I had absolutely no diagnostic messages, and everything was working on mine, unlike yours. I cleaned the sensor and rode 60 miles today with no problems. I still think I may have a bad wire, but cleaning the sensor for now seemed to do the trick.
Your problem may be a little different, so check your codes and see what you get. The manual has some good diagnostic guidelines.
im having the same problem started 2 days ago i got on bike after riding all day then noticed no gauges turn signals horn or brake light other than that all else works 2004 FXDLI no bad fuses no broke wires etc.????????
Pull the fuse box. The 15 amp asso. fuse is blown. Mine did the same thing a few days ago. I still have not tracked down the short. Either the left hand turn signal or the hourn has a short. I need to get some more fuses before I get too deep into the wireing. Brake light is out too. Replaced the fuse all is well until I hit the Left turn switch I'll pull the fairing this weekend and let you know what I find
