I recently got my King TP back from the painters and its complete except the hole where the lock is installed into. It looks like its a different lock than the one thats in the saddle bags? I ordered two sets of saddlebag locks keyed to my bike hoping to use one out of the second set for the TP. Not sure I can do that looking at the diagram in the manual. Next time I go to a dealer I will look at the locking mechanism but I dont have one here to look at now. Looks like I need the hardware that has the latch, cam hook, lock guide etc. ...If anyone had the part numbers for this hardware I would appreciate it. If the locks ifferent I know I will have to order that from the stealer-again but the hardware I should be able to buy direct.
This should be on the Harley web site, they came out with a kit to do this a couple of years ago, sorry but I dont have the link for it but it should be easy to find.
The saddlebag locks are very different from the tour pak lock. I ordered both when I did my recent paint project.
The tour pak lock I ordered from the local dealer included all of the parts for installation, so I don't know what $$$ benefit there is in "buying direct" the cam lock, etc., separately from the keyed-to-match tour pak lock cylinder.
The tour pak locks are different. I ordered one from the dealer for my new TP. I don't remember how much but I do remember that it wasn't too expense. Seems like it cost about the same as ordering a replacement key. The lock came with 2 new keys that fit my bike.
Thank you all for the replies. I did not know the lockset came complete with all the hardware. I thought it may have just been the barrel itself. I'm going to have my new dealer order it for me.
+1 on the TP lock assy. Its actually "similar" to the locks on my Police Hardbags, but completely different than the locks on the regular saddlebags. Well, they all use the same keys, so i guess not techinically "completely" different, but you get my point!
The HD p/n is 53194-07 and they call it the Tour Pak Lock Kit its on page 394 bottom left of the page of the HD 2009 catalog. There is no picture of it. Retail price is $19.95 pretty cheap actually and you again will need your Harley key code when you go to order it. Came with lock set and two keys. Cheap way to get extra keys if needed. Good Luck easy install
