It ain't gonna come off. The '09's have a clear coat crap on 'em, once stained, you're screwed. I wanna get new rims when I wear out the tires and get rid of these PITA wheels. Get something that's chromed.....

I recently purchased a 09 SG used with 6000 miles in March. The bike spent the first 9 months of its life as a rental in southern California. The dealer did the service work and like most dealers washed the bike but did not detail it. When I got the bike the rims had this nasty ugly grunge on them that would not wash off and looked bad. I have seen several bikes that the rims look like crap on. I purchased the S100 aluminum polish and worked and worked on them a few inches at a time and just kept using the polish and after about three hours on the front wheel alone it looks like it did when it was new and looks great. Now the trick is to keep it clean and polished. Give it a try again I just tested a couple inch area first to make sure it worked before I continued. Good Luck

Once cleaned, there is a product that will keep them that way for months. It's on a web sit called chemicalguys.com. It's a small white tub with something that looks like paste wax. I think it's called Wheel Guard. Will seal the bare aluminum and prevent further stains.http://chemicalguys.com

My 05 wheels weren't any better. I had em powdercoated a glossy black, they're in the process of being put on now.

On a related note, I'm having a tough time removing the adhesive for those stick-on lead wheel balancing weights. I usually have good luck using WD-40 to remove sticky adhesive residue, but not this time. Any suggestions?

Goof Off works good.

I cleaned the stains off my wheels with a Mothers power ball and some polishing compound.

+1 on this stuff. It works very well keeping your wheels cleaned. Do a thorough detail of both wheels, then apply the Wheel Guard. Keeps your wheels clean for 3-4 months. Just wash off the grime, brake dust, etc.
