its funny, everyone seems to sy that the RG handles better than the batwings, and it would seem to make sense, but when I rode the RG yesterday, it didn't seem to be miles ahead in terms of handling compared to the EG I rode last summer. my primary concern is that the SG is more of an "around town" bike, and I want to be able to put on major miles occasionally.
that Ultra looks awesome Loch - can't see any of the wires where you detached the Tour Pack - how much work was it to make the bike look that way?
Thanks! The wires are coiled up in a zip lock bag under the seat directly over the battery. I purchased the docking hardware and the quick detach rack to make the tour pak detachable. I added a $35 tune trapper antenna under the fairing so Iâm still able to have tunes without the whip antenna. Then I added that Corbin dual touring seat for comfort and appearance. Iâm guessing about 50% of the members of this board have their EGCâs and EGUCâs set up this way. Itâs really pretty easy. I can have the tour pak reattached and the speakers hooked back up and ready to tour in about 15 minutes.

wow - i really thought that the UC would have a lot more wires and hardware everywhere with the tour pack detatched - maybe i DO need to rethink the Ultra.....
Go with the EG or Ultra and make the tour pack quick detach, same size as the SG. Obviously everyone likes different bikes, that is why there are so many to chose from.
After switching with my buddy for about 50 miles last weekend, the lowered SG rides rougher than the non-lowered touring HD's. If your going to lower the RG then I would say it comes down to looks. For me, I love the Street Glide. (not really a fan of the shark nosed RG) The SG was the exact look I was going for without buying a million $ worth of add-ons. Better looking turn signals front and rear, Filler panels between SaddleBags, StreamLiner Pegs and foot boards, ect. I am actually considering raising my SG to get the softer ride due to the long trips I've got planned this summer.

I bought the EGC instead of the Ultra just because I knew I was mothballing the tour pak unless a road trip deems it neccesary. Less wires to deal with. Got it in Sept. 05, and have got 10500 miles on it. Loch is right on the money about being easy to switch out a backrest or the tour pak. It's more like ( less wires I guess ) 5 minutes on mine. I can also change out the quick disconnect under the tour pak and have it be my back rest instead of the regular one I use, looks kinda sporty I think. Now what are you waiting for ? Go get a bike ! Hurry UP ! If you HURRY UP you can ride to Myrtle Beach this coming weekend, North Carolina ( Deals Gap ) next weekend 5/26 and then head out to Dodge City, KS with me the following weekend for the KS state Rally. It's actually a little north of Dodge City, but I have business there. HURRY UP, times a wasting and you are not riding
I traded an 03 RG for my SG. The RG handled better in strong wind. (Like when you pass a semi on a 2 lane road.) I'm 5'8" tall and the SG feels like it is more nimble and lighter. I'm happy with the SG.
i checked out the streetglide today at the local dealer, sitting on it at least. out of all the abovementioned bikes - ultra, RG, EG - the SG felt the lightest and was easiest to get off the stand and roll around. it really feels tiny, i bet it's hugely flickable on the road.
