a lot of good advice in here. i've been lucky with harleys stock batteries, so i think i'll stick with them. anything would beat having to push start that thing.

That said, I'd like some recommendations on good batteries and best prices that people have found. Obviously I don't see much wrong with the stock/OEM battery, given how long mine lasted! I've heard that the Odyssey batteries last forever, but require some modification (terminals need to be reversed, and some adjustments to make it fit on the bike properly).

Thanks!
Here is a link to the Deka battery that is the same exact battery that the dealer is going to sell you, but without the HD markings on it...........Deka makes the HD batteries.

$94 delivered..............can't be beat

I always use the "off-brand" or "re-branded" batteries and still have very good results using them. In any batch or brand you can get a bad battery--but why pay for the name when you can get the same for less????

Do the batteries you buy online come ready to go or do they need to be charged?

I ordered one online and it was charged and ready to go. But I put it on a 1/2 amp trickle anyway and it was topped off in 30 minutes.

I always put a new battery on a battery tender until it's topped off.............probably doesn't need it, but it's just how I like to do things.

Same here. Thanks for the advice on the new batteries. I ended up going with the stock one. From all the local distributors it was (oddly enough) the cheapest one I could get. I didn't have alot of time since I needed it for a big ride (this was back in May), so I had to get it asap.

Steve, I still have the Thunderheaders I bought from you (what was that? 4 years ago now I think!), working like a champ!
