The wife is 5'7" and rides with a 6" dark tint Windvest on her 09 Street Glide. I'm 6'4" and I ride with an 8" smoked Windvest on my 04 Screamin Eagle Electra Glide. No problems for either of us.
The Windvest is one of the windscreens that has the lip at the top to send the wind up in the air another three or four inches. They work! Klockwerks, Clearview and a few others make them in some form or another, also.
I'm 6'2" and run a 8" windshield. Works much better though I still look over it for the most part. I prefer to have more air movement, especially during the summer months.
I put a 4" screen on my glide. I have a very low slung seat so thats why i dont hit the debris too much. I can imagine if i had the stock seat I would be way higher than the screen
If you take a piece of flexable black thin plastic, cut a template of your stock SG shield then get a taller clear view place the template on the inside of the shield you'll have the best of both worlds, protection plus the look of the Street Glide...
