Got tired of my stock Road Glide seat rubbing and leaving marks on my rear fender as well as it being a bit too mushy. Bought a discontinued Cyclepedic Pro Pad and it's a quantum leap from stock.
Bought my 09 RG a few weeks ago and was leaving for a week long trip in a week when Russell Cycle Products called me. I was going to have them build me a seat for a Kawasaki Versys I bought this summer but since I just bought the RG I said to hell with the Kaw I needed this way more. I was on their cancellation list because I live about 2 hours away so I could do it last minute. They had someone cancel and wanted me to ride down the next day but I had something I couldn't cancel so I overnighted the seat and they did it that day for me. Because they didn't get it until almost noon it took another day but I was ok with that. I drove down and picked it up and left for my trip 3 days later. I did 2600 miles in 8 days and the seat was awesome. It took a couple of days to break in but after that I was in heaven. This is the first week long trip I came home from and my butt wasn't sore. I actually felt like riding the day I got back and that never happens.
Yes it is big and wide and sits me up at least and inch or more than stock but I'll have one on every bike I own from here on. I had to put some Heritage bars on since it put me back a little bit too. It is like riding on a tractor seat but after a day or two I didn't notice. Big bucks but worth it.
I can't see buying a new seat for comfort....here's why...
Some days I can ride 40 miles and butt burn sets in..
Other days I can ride 200+ or a full tank of gas WITHOUT any problems..
So for me it's what my butt can take ...I feel new seat won't help
Well asses are different, so I'll disagree. I can ride 100 or 1000 miles and never suffer butt-burn, but an hour in the saddle kills my tailbone. Butt-burn may be a factor of temp, obesity, poor hygiene or ill fitting clothing. Tailbone pain may be due to age, posture or a generic seat not suited to an individual rider.

Another reason other than comfort is the rubbing of the fender like I mentioned above. Some are not bothered by this happening since they will never take the seat off. Harley designs their seats so that the plastic pan of the seat just sits wherever it likes with no rubber bumpers or anything like that. I rubbed and rubbed on my fender and still could not get all the black rub marks from the stock seat. You would think they would have a better design to protect the rear fender just in case someone would want to put a one up seat on and show off the rear fender.
Just put a H-D Road Zeppelin on a few weeks ago. BIG improvement over stock. It does sit me up a bit higher than stock, but having the ability to change the seat air bladders on the fly to re-adjust the seat position more than makes up for the difference in seat height. It is also much wider than the stock seat, so it should be good on long, all-day rides.
corbin solo and passenger with rider and passenger backrest in brown ostrich leather. its unreal comfortable. 250+ mile days no problem. it gave me maybe 2 more inches and dw's seat is a little smaller. (shes only bout a buck 15 anyway). If you have not tried a rider backrest, its by far the best thing i have bought for my bike.
stock seat on 09 ultra sucks. Had a mustang on mine 06 and liked it. But after buying a new bike, pipes, air kit, and so forth, I was running alittle low on some money. Tried Mean City Cycles and talked with Alan and lucky enough they were close enough for a road trip to his place. Let him do the double stacker memory foam mod. And I love it. Saved some cash and it is as good as any seat I have been on. The longer I ride the better it gets.
