Does anybody know whats the widest tire i can put on me 08 street glide hoping i can go bigger when tire needs replacing. Thanks in advance for any input
i've seen the guys who've put on the 160-90-16 rear, but i just got the mu80-16 on the rear, and there is 1/8" clearance between the fat part of the rear tire and the right side of the rear fender at the top where the strut is. so i don't know how they're fitting a larger tire on than i got. sure is great especially when you're riding on rain grooves. no longer got that drunk sort of butt wiggle out of my 08 streetglide. tracks true like the rain grooves aren't even there. found the best price at dennis kirk. 111 plus five bux shipping. cheap. get this, 94 bux for the mt 90-16 front. and i just changed out to the chrome nine spoke wheel that costs 549, and what a remarkable difference. the stock disc wheels look so agricultural after going to the chrome nine spoke wheels.
I just put the 160 Elite 3 on Friday and right after got a speeding ticket (YEEE HAW) - happy birthday to me. That's right taller tire put the speedo off by a lot - speedo said 62 trooper said 72. Saturday was my birthday too, so tire was a present to me and the state said thanks for the extra tax payment.

No offense to the many LEO's here but I'd bet with this being a long holiday weekend your copper there was maybe a little on the high side of what he actually clocked you doing. And that is unfortunate to what "right" is.
I really doubt your tire threw you off that much and more importantly that your own experience couldn't hint to you the difference in 10 mph.

Yeah, I was going to ask him when he last had the radar checked, but I just wanted to ride and I was thinking he would let me go too - WRONG.
If you have a gps you could check with that. I found my stock 08 SG was saying 60mph gps said 57. I really doubt your speed was off that far with the new 160.
