Just bought new 09 EG classic . Should I go for extended warranty for $995 three extra years,$1495 5 extra years? How good is the warranty ,they claim it is mother of all warranties. Sorry if asked before. Thanks
Depends, do you have limited mechanical skills and plan on ridding a lot? If you answered yes to both of those or at least the first one, probably yes. but remember, Harley sells the warranties to make money, not loose it. So, on the whole. Most bikes will need less than $1495 in covered repairs in 5 years.
Three extra years really only gets you one extra year. If you're going to do it I'd suggest five years which in reality only give you three above the two year warranty.
You can still buy an extended warranty later as long as you do so before the two years expires. It will just cost a bit more.
My choice is to wait and decide later so I can't be of any help advising about running the claims through.
i talked with a harley mechanic about this last week, asking the same question as my 08 street glide will be out from warranty this coming fall, and he said that a lot of times, the extended warranty is useless, cause the motor company will come up with some sort of excuse as to why "that" is not covered. i am not gonna get it extended for mine, after having talked with the service manager who said the same thing. hope tis was of value to you.
I should have said three extra years for $995 for a total of 5 years. and 1495 5 extra years for 7 years unlimited millage.I am pretty good mechanic. I was just worried about all the electronics. going to keep it stock, will ride it a lot in summer ,will set for winter months though. Thanks Jim thats what I was wondering ,if you have motor problems they would say it was not covered. I will probably wait a year and decide.

Reason: Add stuff
From what I've heard they will usually try to deny claims based on modifications done to the bike. A big one a frined of mine that works at the dealer said is they will try to blame engine probelms/damage on the way the bike was tunned if it was not done by a Harley dealer.
If your gonna keep it stock and ride it a lot. $1495 fro 7 years sounds like a little bit of money for a lot of peace of mind. Especially with the DBW throttle and ABS on the new bikes.
