The stock handlebars on all RK's suck! That's the first modification I have to do. Second, wait until you do about 500+ miles in one day on that stock seat before you decide that it's good. IMHO, the stock seat is garbage. Ok for short rides, but when doing any real touring it killed me in no time. I replaced mine with a Sundowner and can now ride all day in comfort. I also can't stand the sound of any stock Harley. Many people like it, so it's a personal thing. If you like the sound, then stick with them.
This may not be a popular opinion or answer or what you want to hear...but I would be more worried righr now about keeping the wife happy. Remember..if she goes )leaves)...the bike may as well. This is just my experience... dont ask how I know.
Now if it is just a girlfriend... get back to the bike!
I had V&H slip-ons on my Sportster REAL LOUD! But I gotta admit I like the sound of the stock pipes.
Mabe I'm comparing everything to the Sportster, for the first six months I just wanted the pain to stop.
