Default slow speed wobble

07 ultra, stock suspension

i have noticed something and just wondering if anyone else has noticed the same thing.

starting off, slow speed turn and the front end wobbles. seems to only happen at real slow speed on a turn. makes the bike feel kinda loosey goosey. not sure how else to explain it.

and yeh, it could be pilot error or something.

if i am in a situation where i have to make a tight turn from a stop.

doesn't happen if i can give it some speed or if i take the slow turn after going straight for a little bit.

Tom from http://harleygoodies.com/ here. It could be rider error, but it could other things as well. Tire pressure first and foremost, and/or steering head bearings. I would start by check those as I do not ever get a wobble when turning a corner. IF your bikes is still under warranty hit up the dealer and have them check it. I guess it could also possibly be the fact that touring bikes are top heavy, but it is hard to say.

Regards,

I have a 2008 Ultra with 16000 miles and I have noticed EXACTLY the same thing. I do not think is the tire pressure since I check my tire pressure often and I do not have spokes. I am going to check with the dealer. I suspect it is something in the stearing head bearing area that must be tighten.

its got 16k on it. and tire pressure is good. i head thought about the bearings, but at 16k, it shouldn't be yet.

i was just wondering if by any chance one of the 'braces' might stop it.

like i said, its only a real sharp and real slow turn (like how fast could you do a sharp turn).

and yeh the top heavy thing does concern me when i have to turn sharp.

this is in the situation where you think you can make the turn and you would rather be going under power than walking it. and you don't (or can't) do the back and forth thing to get a better position, so you have to start and immediately lean and turn and it is sharp.

i have actually found, that if i only go straight, i have no problems with turns, but i run into too many things.

May be a broken belt in the tire... My buddy had the same thing going on with his Goldwing and i rode behind him to look...the bike was side to side until he got to about 15 MPH then it went away at speeds....dealer checked it and sure enough...broken belt and was covered...Problem solved...

the bike feels pretty stable going straight. even at slow speeds. but maybe i will run it into the shop and just have them take a look see to see what they think.

when i say wobble, its almost like how much the handle bars move when stopped at idle. almost like taking it and wobbling the handle bars back and forth about 1/2 inch.

The reason i joked about it is because i rode my Buddies Goldwiing this weekend on the Blue ridge parkway and in some other twisties and it was like...HEY! where the hell is the noise...gotta have a little noise....they laughed at me... i said you just don't get it don't you.
