Air horn dude. If your horn sounds weak check the ground that attaches the the side motor mount above the horn, at least on softails. Mine came loose and sounded like a dolphin talking underwater. Reattached it and ti was pretty loud again.
Now on the fun part of the question. Air horn all the way if you want LOUD. A friend has the WOLO horn that is only about $50 and it is so loud when he honks it I nearly crap my pants. There is a lot of variety available with the horns, I think it all boils down to how much you are willing to spend. Another buddy has an police siren in place of his horn. It is very cool too. I think it was $60 on fleabay.
Several other previous threads on this subject resolved their dying horn sound by checking and cleaning all terminal and ground connections. If that does not work I agree go an air horn to help you stay alive.
I think I'm going with the airhorn in the near future. They look cool, couple of trumpets hangin off the side of the bike. The fact that they're loud as all get out is a bonus.
I put the HD Premium Air Horn on mine. I love how loud it is. Just the other day, cage pulls out of a side street (25 mph limit street) in front of me. Did not even look until I blasted the horn and he about went off the right side of the road.
