I recently put a Mustang solo on the Road Glide. It sets me a bit closer to the tank and higher than the stock seat. I'm 6'4" and about 245. I have been able to do 800+ mile days on the stock seat but I get tail bone sore within 400 miles with the Mustang. I ordered a Corbin which will be here in a couple of weeks. I'll post after I do a long ride.
You know, I see this a lot when discussing seats. Someone please explain how it makes a difference whether the seat is leather or vinyl. Unless the seat is blowing air on your butt, you're gonna sweat in August regardless of the material.
I havent tried a Mustang seat, I have tried a corbin. I went into their plant here in town 2-3 weeks ago and had them mount the solo seat on my bike and took it for a ride, the back support without the back rest was very nice. I seemed that i could feel the bumps through the seat a lot more. I also felt like I was moved closer to the tank.
I have dealt with the corbins on other business unrelated to motorcycles and I dont care for them on a personal level.
I have tried a danny gray and it feels pretty comfortable but have not gone on any long rides with it.
Million dollar question, I've owned both and I currently have the Corbin, However I think you will be happier with the Mustang. Sounds contradictory but the Corbin is firmer and designed not to avoid pressure points and not bottom out on long rides. Mustang is wider and less firm and backrest is designed better so I think you'll find it more comfortable and like it more.
I would take the corbin over the mustang any day of the week. I actually wanted a corbin but don't like the 'ribbed' effect they have on the surface of their seats for the last couple years. They won't do a 'smooth' seat even by request either, so I went with C&C and have 0 regrets, they're much cheaper then corbin, look nicer (in my opnion), and are just as comfortable, I actually prefer my C&C to my dad's corbin(mine also has gel in it). Just be sure to weigh your options carefully before dropping all that dough.
I have a the Corbin dual tour seat and will never buy another brand its a firm seat like a horse saddle but it gets better as the miles clock up.The Corbin seat will move you back 2 inches and down 1 1/2 giving you more leg room with straighter arms. They also will make a custom seat for your height when you order.
