Default Corbin vs. Mustang

I am looking at a solo seat with a backrest for my 09 Ultra Classic. I like the looks of the Corbin and the Mustang. The Corbin seat is a bit more expensive than the Mustang so I dont want to make a mistake if I purchase the Corbin and its not comfortable. If it helps I am 6'3 and about 240. Any feedback on the comfort and overall quality of either of these will be appreciated.

I had a Mustang on my last bike and really liked it. I've heard Corbin customer service is lacking. Can you go to a bike night and talk to guys that have them?

I'm 6-1 and 275. The Corbin is the most comfortable seat I have ever had. Yes, firm, but memory foam and real leather seat top break in to fit your azz. It offers great support, thus the comfort. As a big guy, I found that I hit the hard seat pan with my tailbone on the softer Mustang seat. My two cents.

I don't know about customer service, but mine is built so well that it has not been an issue.

I have a Mustang seat with backrest on my Softail and a Corbin with backrest on my Electra Glide. Hands down, the Corbin seat is the winner (although I like the backrest better on the Mustang). On a recent 9-day trip, I rode 613 and 514 miles on the last 2 days with no problems. The Mustang seat has me squirming after about 90 minutes.

I did a lot of forum searching on seats before I bought my Corbin. I came to the conclusion that there is no "right" seat that one person can say will work for someone else. We are all too different. If you can find someone with the seat you are interested in and just sit on it for half an hour or so, you *might* get a fair indication of whether you like it. Otherwise, it's a crap shoot.

Just finishing breakin in a Corbin Classic Solo with backrest. Great fit, and very comfortable. If you choose Corbin call 1-800-223-4332 and ask for Sergio at ext.316 he was great to deal with. BTW, I got his name from someone else here on a different thread.

I had a corbin for 10 years and loved it. It all depends on what type of "feel" you like. Mustangs are bigger and plusher whereas the corbins are tight and stiffer. I think that they are probably both good seats but I prefer the corbin look and feel vs the soft/plushy feel of the Mustang. Again, it's just a matter of what feels best to you since it's your butt on the thing.

It's been a few years, but I'm still running my Mustang Solo with Backrest. It has studs that match the stock RoadKing seat, but that's where the similarity ends. I've examined Corbin products and although they are certainly quality-made, they remind me of our horse saddles back at my dad's ranch. My Mustang Solo doesn't feel soft or plushy, but isn't has hard as the Corbin.

Default Corbin hands down

I have a Mustang and a Corbin.
Corbin is totlally custom, leather which breathes and is more comfortable.

Mustang makes a good seat but Corbin is the most comfortable on the long haul.

I had a Corbin on a Road King several years ago and it was only okay for my tastes. It was very firm, I put 18-20 thousand miles on that bike and it never really got any better. I tried the Mustang Solo with the passenger pillion on my 09 Ultra, it didn't work because I had the passenger grab handles installed, which if you are installing it solo only that would not be an issue. It what little time I had it on the bike it felt much better than the stock seat. I also tried the touring one piece on the Ultra and it made me sit too far forward, so this may be an issue for you also. I am 6'2 and 280. Both seats were much firmer than the stock seat. I can't say enough about Mustang's customer service though, very accomodating people.
