Anybody running these on a stock 96 inch bike? I am thinking about adding these to mine...any ideas on what type of gain by adding these to my bike? (other mods listed below)
I'm looking to find out the same thing because the OE set-up is 2-into-1-into-2 and the V&H doesn't appear THAT much different. However, knowing the reputation of V&H, there would likely be a difference. How much though is the question. I'm hoping to put those along with the Monster Ovals on my Roadie. It won't feel as punchy as my Police bike, but it has to be better, I hope!
they do talk highly of the stock head pipes, but not one mention of the power duals...I would like to remove the stock pipes if I can find something that atleast performs as well or better....
I dont know if they will work better on a 96, I do know that they look, sound and perform unreal behind the 124...
The collector design is very smooth, the under bike crossover is round for most of the way (it goes oval under the belt). It will flow much better than the stock headers. What that means behind a 96 with stock cams is hard to say...
Here is what they sound like with basic slip ons behind the 124...
Well, I guess I will give them a shot.... Heck they are only $437.95 and if nothing else, I am sure they will compliment future engine mods. Thanks for the video, King. I know mine won't sound like yours, but it is nice to be able to see a walk-around view of the collector area.
Just installed power duals on my 09 SG with monster ovals and PCV this weekend. After about 100 miles, love the sound, (very deep and throaty but not too loud when cruising to overpower radio) heat improvement (not nearly as hot as the stock pipes) and overall look. The jury is still out on the power, seems to me that there is a slight improvement in the mid range gears (3rd and 4th). Can't tell the difference in the lower gears and don't see real improvement when cruising at 70-80. But like I said, the jury is still out and will be able to give better assessment after more miles.
Cool... I have been told that my regular Ovals might become loud after removing the stock head pipes and cross over.... I might end up going to the Monster Ovals since they are supposed to be a little quieter than the Ovals..... We will see later this week!
