Default 2008 RK Stage 1 Backplate problem

The dealer installed a Sceamin Eagle Intake when I bought my 2008 RK new. I noticed where the backplate meets the Induction module that the top half of the backplate doesn't seal the gasket to the Induction Module, there is about 1/8" gap? The breather bolts are torqued tight (120-144 in/ibs) to the Induction bracket and the Air Filter element studs are also torqued tight (55-60 in/lbs)
Does anyone know why the backplate won't fully seal to the induction module?

did they remove the upper bracket? There is a bracket with 2 torx bolts screwed in from the top. The directions say to remove the tank but if your carefull you can get them.

Wow dealer installed and they didn't even remove the throttle body support bracket as required. I'd have alot of trust in them. Tell you right now you are lucky to not have a cracked backplate or broken stand-off studs.

I have the instructions that came with the Kit. It shows to use the original Induction Module bracket that has two small screws that holds the Induction module and two holes that the breather bolts pass through. Not sure what it is that you mentioned the dealer should have removed?

That would be the one. It is supposed to be removed with the SE intake. It stays on when installing a Ness BS.

man, i'd be back first thing when they open up for making it right, as you paid them to do it right the first time. something that simple, is easy to do at home. the initial install anyway. i'd be takin it to them, it was their screw up.

Thanks Mike 5959 for the pics. I removed the mount but found that the rear breather bolt hole threads were galled a little and the first three turns are missing . Do I need to take a tap and chase them out? I will buy some new breather bolts to replace the ones I have. It may be due to having a short insertion depth when the mount was on. The original problem I was having when I noticed this was some oil staining on the cooling fins that looked like it was coming from where the head and the bracket connected. Another dealer said that the rear O-ring may have taken a compression and started leaking a little so I bought new o-rings and a backplate gasket. When I re-installed the backplate is when I noticed that the backplate wasn't in contact with the induction module. After you mentioned that the bracket was suppose to be removed and the instructions stated removed and disgarded it made sense why there was a gap so I removed the bracket.
I will be talking to the service manager tomorrow when they open. One concern that I have is that I have over 20k on the bike and must have had that gap the entire time. Every time I cleaned the filter element over this time there was dirt in the paper so not all of the intake was exposed to none filtered air. I wonder how much dirt it ingested over this time frame. Maybe I should see if they will make me a deal on a 103 upgrade.

Thanks again for all the input, you guys ROCK!
