I went on a ride yesterday for a fallen firefighter the temp was approx 80 degrees we did street and short hwy riding maybe 10 miles anyway I noticed my bike temp was running at 280-290 on my HD faring oil temp guage, sending unit is mounted in the oil pan..I have a FM PCV Rhinehart slipons and SE AC KN filter..Is this normal PS bike runs great other than it running hot in slow to moderate traffic..

Joe
i have the same set up except i have the heavy breather and mapped by fuelmoto
and in moderate traiffic mine gets quite hot don't have the temp. gauge yet but i would say it's about 280 +
ACCHD
Good question dont know if the parade mode is active although we where moving most of time ..Anyway went and order the HD cooler had it on my 07 and worked well...
I had a gauge installed for a few months before I got a cooler. Stage 1 helped but it still got hot at times. After the cooler, it runs at 180 to 190 and 230 max.
Joe I don't have a temp gauge but wondered if this was with EITMS(parade mode) enabled or disabled?
The "parade mode" only does something while the bike is sitting still. It is all back to normal as soon as the bike moves. I don't have a clue why they call it "parade mode".
Mine works fine sitting at a stop light. It's even cooler than riding in town. Now I can't hate red lights anymore. It's the only time the bike cools down. LOL
I wish it had a light to tell you when it's on. The 'Cruise Light' could blink while it's on. It blinks when you set it. It doesn't matter, it's just "curious minds want to know". LOL

ALL TC96 MOTORS SHOULD HAVE A COOLER. (period)
What oil cooler are you using? I am very interested in one that works.
did i miss something here, or did the guy forget that he's riding a motorcycle with an air cooled engine that requires air passing over it for cooling? all harleys will heat up if you're not going fast enough for air to pass over the engine. oh well. ride safe anyway.
there has to be more here going on. not just your bike. i have read of more new bikes running 270+
first thing would be to check the gauge against a thermoeter
i have a 09 and i live in az. i kept track of the temps before the cooler for 1000 miles
in spring heat of 90+ the highest temp i seen was 240-250.
now that i have the oil cooler and its hottter 105+ daily with a 118 on the xway and the highest temp of 235
I'm no expert but that seems to be high to me, I have a 00EGC, stage one, true duals, SS 510G cams and a PCIII. Mine has hit 255 on a 90 degree day in stop and go traffic. Just my $0.03.
We are riding air cooled, big v-twin engines. Again, air cooled engines. They need air blowing across the cooling fins to remove heat from the cylinders. You ain't movin...then you ain't removin heat. The engineers that designed these old fashioned tractor motors know all that. A motorcycle using air cooled technology is not meant to be sitting still with the engine idling for very long, especially in hot weather. It needs to be moving. If not, your legs and *** are going to feel the heat because you are sitting on top of the engine. Heat rise up when you are not moving.
What can you do to get some relief from the heat? The obvious is to keep moving if you can. If not, then you are going to feel the heat until such time as you do start moving again.
Dino oils start to break down above 250 degrees. If you do nothing else, put a high quality, full synthetic lubricant (20-50 wt.) in the crankcase. True synthetics are made for those 300 degree times when you are caught short.
