ok. I can see the tip of the hex adjusters just at the opening of the fairing holes. I don't understand why my 3/16 socket doesn't seem to be turning the adjusters :-(

If someone tried to adjust with the wrong size socket and even remotely rounded the edges of the adjuster, a 3/16 will not work. Hell even a cheap 4.5 MM won't work at that point. I bought my bike new & after I installed the the Daymakers, I had the dealer do the adjustment because I didn't have a 4.5 MM socket at the time. After I had to replaced the frame around my Damakers, I went to adjust the headlights and my 3/16 socket wouldn't turn the adjusters. Ordered a 4.5 MM from the Snap On guy & it bites but not by much, so I ordered new adjusters and replaced them.

well, I really don't think my adjusters have ever been touched, but you never know... I guess to replace them I have to remove the fairing? what a fricken pain that is.... I'll go and get a 4.5 socket and give that a try. thanks again

Which way did you go? To go "UP" you need to turn the bottom adjusters clockwise. In other words, like you are tightening a bolt.

What year is your bike? If it's a 10-13, then you can get it apart by removing the bezel, and the bulbs (4 screws each), then reach in and unplug the adjusters.

It's a 2011. Sorry but I don't quite understand. Why would I need to reach in and unplug the adjusters? Aren't they some sort of mechanical linkage to the bulbs? Thanks so much for your response

Yes, I need the light beam to go up so I turned both bottom adjusters clockwise about 10 turns but the light beam did not move any. I used a 3/16 socket, it felt like it turned so I don't think I stripped it

You can take the bulbs out with 4 phillips screws. Then you can reach into the hole and pinch the adjuster to remove them. A 4.5mm socket is easy to find...... take your pick https://www.google.com/#q=4.5mm+socket

The adjusters look like this. See where the guys finger tips are? That's the part you squeeze in to remove them from the fairing.

Okay, see that. But another stupid question is if the adjusters are used to adjust the light beam, then why when I remove the adjusters? With the adjusters removed how would I adjust my light beam?

And, do I need to remove the fairing or do I go through the headlight assembly?
