Has anyone purchased the Voyager Trike conversion kit? Link is below to their site. I was on an Abate ride yesterday and one couple had an Ultra with the kit installed. Guy was really small, maybe 145 lbs and his wife said the only way she could ride was with the added two wheels.
I followed them on the group ride for about an hour and he seemed to enjoy the ride. My wife and I have the same problem that we thought would go away when we got her own bike at then of last years. Turns out she is just too apprehensive to ride on the streets. She believes that the extra concentration needed to always drive defensively just isn't her style.
So....we are thinking about either selling both my Ultra and her Vulcan 900 and getting a trike, or getting this kit so I can still take off on my own as a two wheeler.
Only other option is to always be apart when I'm riding, which is just not acceptable 100% of the time.
I never understood the attraction of trikes for able-bodied riders. They handle like cars but you still get soaked in the rain! I'd definitely go with the Voyager kit, that way you can still ride a bike when you want to.
Or just pick up a used Miata for a few grand for those times when you want to enjoy traveling with the wife and keep the Ultra — two toys are better than one!
