Default Need Some Help!!!!!!!!!!!!

I put on a set of chrome lowers on my RKC. They were HD brand that had been plated on an exchange. The left side leaked a little fluid and I noticed that the drain screw was loose. I thread sealed it and tightened it up and it still leaked a little. I went to my dealer and bought new drain plug screws and washers then thread sealed the he11 out of them. Everything was fine for a couple of weeks. I still have fluid dripping out but now it is not coming from the drain screw, but it is coming out of the hole underneath the lower from the bottom side. If you look up you, can see where the axle shaft goes through. I can feel it is a little wet in there and I think it has leaked out of there the whole time. The only way I can think of fluid coming out of there is if there was a crack in the housing, but these lowers were new. I am stumped. Any suggestions would really help me a lot.

Thanks,

Joechief

Could it be leaking from the 6mm damper/drain screw underneath?

No, since I put the new drain screw and brass washer with teflon tape, it finally sealed up. It is definitely shock oil, it is that pink looking stuff. It also had new seals put in as well. It's funny, it doesn't leak all the time. It is coming from the bottom, or flat area of the fork. running out of the hole. I took a mirror and looked up in the hole and can see the axle shaft but for there to be a crack in the housing would have to be one heck of a crack. Very strange thing.

dawg is not referring to the drain screw you mention, rather the 6mm brass screw that bolts the lower fork leg to the damper rod through the oil lock piece inside the fork. if you damaged the oil lock or didnt get this bolt tight enough it will leak there. you will have to pull the axle to check it out.

If I pull the axle shaft out, can I access this screw?

yes but be prepared if you remove it you will lose the fork oil. you will need a long 6mm allen driver to loosen/tighten it.
