Well, me and two other buddies went on a 370+ miles day trip yesterday. Had a nice time minus the down pour in Indy. Anyway, after we get home, our neighbor calls and talks to my wife. My wife then comes down and said that another neighbors husband was killed earlier in the day when he was riding. From what I understand, he was riding and tried to avoid something in the road and hit a car. He was the same age as me and had twin daughters about the same age as my son. So, once again reality sets in. You begin to ask yourself if it is all worth it. Don't get me wrong, I know I could be killed walking out to my mailbox, but.........
I know when I ride i'm somewhat taking a chance but I try to be as safe as possible and always looking around and in the mirrors to have a safe out should something happen. I know that isn't always possible but it makes me feel better.
I look at it like this...If your time is up, it doesn't matter if your on a motorcycle, in a car, or walking down the street it's gonna happen. Sorry to hear about your neighbor.
Sorry to hear about your neighbor, will keep his family in my prayers
To your question When the good Lord calls your number it's your time just got to make sure your ready, maybe that's a better question " are you ready to go"
The pain is only felt by those left behind, that is the real pain for his wife a twin girls to go the rest of there life's with out him

+1 This is how I feel also. I've already told my wife if something like this happens to me to just remember I was doing something I loved to do.
I believe God has my day on His calendar and until that day is here, I'll be alive no matter what I do, short of jumping off a cliff or doing something stupid. In other words, don't temp Him. I almost went to Iraq as a defense contractor and my family was up in arms about it. I told them that if it wasn't my time, there was no one in all of Iraq that could kill me. That plan fell through and I believe He was in control of that, too.
I ride with the same confidence; however, I know God gave me eyes and ears and a brain and He expects me to use them wisely. He takes care of the stuff out of my control.

I agree, It could be any of us at any time so we should be ready - whether we are riding or sitting on the couch at home. My prayers are with the family as well.
