I had toyed with putting dash inserts on my RKC for awhile but was worried what the would look like and it would be a waste of money. Well good old Zanottis sold them to me at 21% off so I bought the leather weave outer insert #71398-05 (weave matchs RKC leather on bags etc) and the metal inner insert #71091-05. It is a nice combination and different. Metal insert is ok but the leather weave looks nice. Anybody else went this route?

that loks nice! do you have part #'s for those?

I went with the vivid black insert and love the look and the fact that it cut down on dash sun glare.

Hey Reefteach,

Thanks for the compliments. The bag hanging from the rear lights is known as a medicine pouch. It's a native American tradition to carry herbs, tobacco, or other sacred items as a blessing and for protection. Kinda like the Riders Bell -- which I have hanging from the frame cross member above the the regulator.

Enjoy!

M.

mchacon, you got a good lookin' scoot!

I had a bag just like yours attached to my bike (Road King Std.) and in the same way and in the same place. One time I was riding thru St. Louis road construction at night and went into a pothole. Found out later that the front bag put a nice dent in my fender from the fork travel. I didn't really notice the dent until the paint started peeling a bit. That was an expensive lesson for me... don't get in the way of fork travel / compression. I did have some tools in my bag, so maybe your bag can actually kind of squish up without causing damage.

Hey Czar,

I sure wish I'd received your message a couple of months ago when I loaded my tool bag with tools. Pulling out of my driveway (slight incline) the collapsing of front shocks to absorb bump pushed the tool bag into the top of the fender and left a 3 inch dent(sound familiar). I've since removed tools from the bag and keep it on to hide the dent until I fix it. I guess they're more for looks or to carry soft items. Either way it may scartch your fender.

What did it run you to get yours fixed?
