I have narrowed my pick for slip ons to these two for my '09 Ultra Classic. I haven't heard the Ovals (not the Monster Ovals) anywhere (even UTube ones are no help). I like the look of the Ovals but don't know if they are as loud as the Basics.
Just looking for the same sound that the Basics with a little more detail...
I like the sound of the Ovals but to bme they don't open up soundwise until higher rpm than the basics. The basics are quite at idle but at cruising RPMs have a nice growl to them.
I don't think the ovals sound as good as the basics.
Anyway, the only thing to do is hang out at a dealer or wherever some bikes are for a while and listen to the pipes. A lot of people use V&H so you shouldn't have to wait long to here them.
I've hard both the "Dresser Duels" and the "Monster Ovals". The Monsters have a definately deeper rumble. Both are fine at highway speed. Both open uop when you crank on the throttle. Neither are too loud.
You will get many more coments on the "Monster Ovals". I never had anyone say anything about the "Dresser Duels" but guys will walk around asking "Who owns that bike with those huge pipes out there?"
If you are looking for attention, get the Monsters. I got them for the looks, but I now love the sound and always show off the sound when asked about them.
Hey Frontiercat, If you want to hear a fairly decent sound of ovals go back to youtube and punch in rick69backer, my wife made some movies of me riding by with my ovals, the 1's titled Peace Ride or Short Ride or pretty much the way they sound.....check it out
