LMAO! Same thing happened to me. Sure increased the "pucker factor" in a hurry. I always like the grips though. Comfortable over the long haul.
I used so much glue on the left one that I installed that we could not get it off when I changed handle bars. I know have some Harley grips on and actually like them better because they are smaller in diameter.
After running these for 10 years on my old RK, I didn't even think about what I would install on my '07. These are the most comfortable grips I've ever used and they were the choice without considering anything else. They do leave black stains on my hands and the rubber is looking a bit flakey now after 2˝ years, but that doesn't dilute my enthusiasm for these grips. I would like to see a black-anodized pair offered, though.
You guys with TBW, what is the procedure for installing the throttle side? It's a bit of a hassle with cables, so what links the grip to the TBW mechanism?
As for the left side coming off in a t'storm, never had that happen.
Got em on mine ,,, and as SOOS said do the throttle grip first, and yes the glue dries fast on the left one, the hardest part of my install was getting the left factory grip off, I ended up cutting it off, but really no big deal.. Good luck .. TIm
TBW is actally easier than the cable version....take your time.....ill never have any others love them...
It's *sooooo* easy with the TBW bikes that even *I* did it - Unassisted - In probably 2 minutes on the throttle grip.
And that's saying something.
Really though - All the things that can get freaky with the cables just isn't there. You slide the old one off, you slide the new one on, you glue the other one on, you go for a celebratory ride just a few short minutes later.
