Thing you got to watch with a dealer that does that is the dealer putting a call in to harley and voiding your warranty. Once they do that your done no matter what dealer you go to cause all systems will show your VIN as being a voided warranty.
Harley dealers need to learn that the customer always comes first. I would make sure that you follow this up with the head office for Harley in the US as in this economy I am sure that they will tune the dealer in real fast.
Exactly, don't get mad, get even!
File a complaint with the MoCo and press hard. There is no warranty requirement that a dealer has to do the required maintenance. That shop owner has no leg to stand on.
If they pissed me off like that I would park my pickup truck with a large 8' x 4' painted sign in the back telling every person passing by to be "Carefully shopping at this dealer" " They may not warranty your Purchase" for several weekends.
What a jackass! You ARE NOT required to let the dealer do your service work nor must it be done by a factory certified tech!!!!! If you were required to use them for service, by law it has to be done for free during your warranty period. BMW lost this same exact case in federal court. Make SURE you keep all your reciepts for service parts and what service was performed during the warranty period.
Your owners manual has a number in it for MOCO customer support, and I suggest you give them AND the BBB a call to register a complaint! This POS stealer doesn't have a leg to stand on if you want to REALLY push the issue. Regardless of the outcome, I'd find another dealer and spread the word about this one to everybody that you see. Some stealers NEED their doors closed!

Customer service, long wait times and outrageous labor rates are the reason that we have seen two new "indie" shops open here in town the past few months. Even a local Yamaha dealership is advertising that they have an experienced HD factory trained tech on staff.
Go back to the dealer and start quoting the Magnusson-Moss warranty act. and tell them if they don't fix your issue you will contact your lawyer. In this case they have no leg to stand on and what they told you can land them in federal court if you push the issue.
Only live about 3.5 hours away from them. Have stepped in their store once way back in Summer of '02...My Guts/Vibes tells me that they're not the people you want to mingle around and do business with. Every bike/item in the store is overpriced.
Absolutely sorry to hear of your misfortune with them. Agree with what others had to say. Go underneath their skin and start boiling their blood. Take your bike to my dealer, Arkport Cycles, Arkport, NY. (I know it's too far for you, but....). They're very good at what they do and treat every customer with respect.
