Default standard 20/50 oil

well funny how things work out sometimes.just posted yesterday about what oil works best on all three holes .well i home early today because i just got layed off.my bike needs an oil change so im going to do it my self.well in the past i have used a synthetic oil,but now that i find my self with out a job ,and synthetic being a little more on the expensive side, will it hurt if i go with a conventional oil in the motor and primary and stay with the royal purple in my tranny ? and also i change it every 3000 with the syn.what should be my intervals now that in going to use a conventional ? just until i can get back up on my feet.need to save all i can now.

OK, that bites! Hope you get back on your feet real soon!

Regular oil in the motor is generally fine...assuming you're not dealing with really high heat. Synthetics provide a bit more protection when it comes to temp extremes.

It goes back to heat...regular oil tends to break down a bit faster under high temps. If you can ride without the motor getting real hot, regular oil should be fine at 3000 miles. Some will even tell you that 5000 miles is OK too.

Hope that helps and good luck!

Ran regular oil many years no problems. These new bikes and high temps,I think I would suck it up and stick with syn.

Why not use Mobil1 15w/50? It comes in a 5 qt. jug for less than $25.00 at WalMart and use Castrol GTX 10w/40 in the primary. This works for me.

don't use car oil in the primary, if you have to cut expenses, car oil in the crankcase but a quart of JASO MA spec bike oil in the primary.

The extra 7 bucks is cheaper than new clutch fibers.

Agree with the JASO rating on the primary oil.
