Just ordered a retro kit from bike tronics and need to know what antenna works best. I have a 2006 Electra Glide standard. the kit comes with a hidden antenna but bike tronics suggested I put on an exterior antenna as the hidden one they say is only good in town. Any suggestions?
I have a Dakota Digital powered antenna under the fairing on mine, and some guys here are using a TuneTrapper non-powered antenna under the fairing.
I have installed and tried both of the above, and found that either work well, but niether is quite as good as the factory whip. Only problem is, the factory whip takes away from the overall look of the bike, and especially if you have a quick detach tour pack and take it off.
I agree with Bill on all points so what I did was keep the tune trapper in the wing to hide it and also installed Sirius Sat on my bike - Tune heaven!!!
