Smile Hidden Antenna Under Fairing

I just got my 08 Flhx back from the dealer for its first 1,000 mile service and I had the power antenna installed under the fairing, in order to get rid of the big whip at the back of the bike. However, I am not to happy with the reception of this new antenna. I can no longer pick-up my favourite station, 97.7 hits fm in the niagara region. I also lost the weather band. The only reason I went with the hidden antenna was to make it easier when putting the cover back on. What else can I do for an antenna ? Are the short stubby style any good ? Any advice would be appreciated, Thanks........

The hidden antennas blow, I just took mine out. The shorter antenna will work better but there will be some loss of reception.

I had the Tune Trapper antenna in my fairing and it didn't pick up well either.I put my stock antenna back on and learned to live with it.I am considering this antenna:

Or you can do what some others have done and cut your stock whip down and reroute the cable to the front of the bike and put your cut down antenna inside the fairing tied across the brackets. Someone on here said it worked real good for them.

I got a shorty antenna by a company many on here recommended and it blows. I get little to no reception with it. Someone throw some names out and I will be able to confirm it then.

The stock system with all it's apparent cosmetic problems is still the best if you actually want to be able to pick up signals on FM/ Weather and use your CB farther out than a couple of hundred yards. Had them all, short, hidden, amplified. Just went in the the dealer yesterday and got the stock radio antenna and ordered the CB unit for my 96 Ultra. The stock FM unit is pulling in stations from as far away a 50-60 miles and the scan stops at so many more stations now. Sometimes even HD designs something that actually works the way it should.

I've been quite pleased with a Crutchfield one for my Sony headunit. I think though type radio you have etc has a lot to do with it as some my buddies with Harley HK's radio havn't had as good results.

Sirius works for me...............I hate AM/FM radio.

Put the Sirius antenna inside the fairing on top of the stock radio, and it works great.
