I just got my 08 Flhx back from the dealer for its first 1,000 mile service and I had the power antenna installed under the fairing, in order to get rid of the big whip at the back of the bike. However, I am not to happy with the reception of this new antenna. I can no longer pick-up my favourite station, 97.7 hits fm in the niagara region. I also lost the weather band. The only reason I went with the hidden antenna was to make it easier when putting the cover back on. What else can I do for an antenna ? Are the short stubby style any good ? Any advice would be appreciated, Thanks........
Which "power antenna" was installed--(there are several available)?
I'm using an aftermarket unit (very similar to Dakota Digital, but purchased at an auto audio shop for about 1/3 the price) and works fine in Metro Atlanta. But I don't have WB on my Sony headunit so don't know how it would work on an HD or Radio Sound headunit.
I to am a Sirius subscriber; mind sharing your set up?
Thanks!
+1! I have XM in the truck but I thought these satellite radio antennas had to have a clear view to the sky...? My GOS antenna works tucked in the dash, but I didn't think sat radio antennas would pick up under cover.

That's the same powered antenna I'm using with my Sony Marine CDX-M50iP head unit. Though not a good as a full-length whip antenna, it's reception is more than adequate and I can clearly tune in all my local favorite stations.
i truley beleive the antenna issue is the h/k radio itself. with all the electronics included in this unit i think they forgot it was supposed to pick up fm!
i aGREE WITH WASTE, AUTOZONE OR ANY GOOD AUTOPARTS STORE CARRIES NICE ANTENNAS THAT SCREW RIGHT ON FOR ABOUT $8 I GOT A EURO STYLE, LOOKS LIKE MY bmw cars ANTENNA, gREAT RECEPTION ALSO
+1 This is what I have as well and it seems to work very well so far. Can't get the harley cover over my bike, but the generic covers you can buy online fit very well over the whole beast.
When I was at the dealer today putting my deposit on an 09 SG, my friend who has an Electra Glide and I talked about fairing antennas and he said he "buried" his over on the far right side as per the instruction as far from the major fairing electronics as possible. He said his works as good as the original antenna. Anyone interested I could get the name of the unit he has.
