When I bought my 1996 eg standerd I put some in the gas tank and I sprayed some into the carb. What a differance it made.

One of my friends uses Sea Foam. He mixes it in the gas by the label directions. It is a gas preservative like Marvel Mystery Oil or Sta Bil. It keeps the gas from deteriorating when the vehicle sits like over the winter. It is good stuff, I'm told and know personally about MMO and Sta Bil. They work.

MMO and Sea Foam (IIRC) can be mixed in with the oil and it cleans out the sludge. I am not in favor of this application because sometimes the sludge is what keeps the motor together. I could see using it from the git go but starting to use it when the engine is worn in could cause trouble. YMMV.

I use it to treat the gas when I store most anything. I also run it through the diesel every couple tanks. I only dump it in the lawn mowers/atv's oil and run it for 15 minutes then change oil. In the bike I only use it in the gas tank. Had a friend use it in his truck tranny, dislodged a piece of sludge/dirt.... seized a needle bearing, new tranny needed... extreme case sure, but makes me stop there... You could probably run it in your engine oil then change it.. it does a great job of cleaning up the carb/intake...

That does bring up a good question. I have used it in my cars and I have put it in my gas tank (1/3 bottle) of my bike but I have not used it in the oil or tranny(they have something for the tranny as well)... I just went to seafoams website and posted that question. Should be interesting to see how they respond.

All I can say is since using it I have had no problems. Metric carbs don't need the usual "spring cleaning". I always put it the gas can for the lawn mower, pressure washer, generator, snow blower, ect at every fill up. never a fuel problem.

I had a bad sticking valve from the factory on my 05 road star and the seafoam in the fuel for the first few thousand miles would almost instantly stop the problem. I would also put it in the oil and ride hard for a couple of tanks of gas right before an oil change. Don't know if that's the best way to use it, but it seemed to help the engine run smoother and kept the carbon deposits away.

With the throttle open, spray it in there until the engine dies, let it sit a while, then fire it up. Definately do it outside (don't ask). Cleans out the carbon in the cylinder heads and pistons.

RAN IT IN THE OIL ON MY HOT ROD WITH A USED JUNK 305... damn caps lock ..
Smelled pretty when i ran it ..... The oil was really dirty and I kept getting junk out when i changed it so I know it cleans pretty good but it never helped with the 75# of compression on number 2 cylinder ... I guess it cant rebuild a burnt valve !
