Going in on Sat. for my 1000 mile service on my 05 RK. Have my own oil (amsoil), so, anyone want to guess what the dealer charge in KC is going to be? Will post the answer later on Saturday
I'll be doing the rest of my services myself. RK is an easy bike to take care of. Dealer service is nothing more than a money maker for both car and cycle dealers. They should be ashamed charging what they do for labor and paying their mechanics $8-9 an hour.
My mechanic will do mine for about $130.00, includes Amsoil. He does the factory check list and documents everything for the warranty. Local HD dealer would like to charge me $235.00 for the same service without synthetic oil.
I plan on having my 1000 mile service done next week.
Just hard to understand how there can be that big of a price difference between dealers.....I guess they all get what they can...I have 6 HD dealers within 50 miles so perhaps they keep the cost down a little because of competition...not counting the filter or oil, the dealer charged 115.20. This is the first time I have taken any of my Harleys to the dealer for anything, and for a fancy oil change, primary chain adjustment, clutch adjustment it is still high, as I could of done it all myself, but this is my first new one in 30 years so I wanted to give it a shot....
